What Determines the Suction Force of the Range Hood?

What Determines the Suction Power of an Oil Smoke Extractor?

Oil smoke extractors have gradually become a necessity in millions of households, solving the problem of oil smoke. However, a new problem has arisen - frequent complaints of low suction power of oil smoke extractors. In this article, we will investigate the reasons for low suction power of oil smoke extractors in detail. First, we will learn about the two main ways of oil smoke extraction in oil smoke extractors, and then analyze the reasons for low suction power:

Two Major Ways of Oil Smoke Extraction in Oil Smoke Extractors

1. Deep-hood type: The deep-hood type includes deep-type or deep-cabinet type, which are equipped with a deep (large-capacity) collecting hood. When the fan is running at high speed, a negative pressure zone is formed above the collecting hood, which is used to accommodate the oil smoke that cannot be drawn away in time, thus playing a buffering role and preventing the large-scale diffusion of oil smoke.

2. Side-suction type: This refers to the inlet and fan of the air cabinet being on a vertical plane and the outlet being on a horizontal plane (on top), where the side suction creates a huge smoke gas buffer zone within the inner cavity, generating a certain wind pressure and exerting a greater force in expelling smoke, resulting in fast, thorough and better oil control. Side-suction oil smoke extractors are mostly those with the fan installed on the side or at the central angle. The inlet can be directly seen from the outside. The suction power of a side-suction oil smoke absorber is generally better than that of a straight-suction one, but it is more difficult to clean because the fan wheel is installed at an oblique angle on the side.

Reasons for weak oil smoke suction:

1. The oil smoke absorber is too far away from the stove:

Simple solution: Adjust the height

2. The exhaust pipe is too long and has too many bends:

Simple solution: Install the exhaust pipe according to the instructions

3. The outlet direction is chosen incorrectly or there are obstacles blocking it:

Simple solution: Change the location and remove the obstacles

4. The kitchen has too much air circulation or is sealed too tightly:

Simple solution: Reduce air circulation or open the windows and doors moderately

5. The exhaust pipe joint is seriously leaking:

Simple solution: Seal it well

The main factors affecting the suction power of an oil smoke absorber are:

1. Air volume;

2. The distance between the oil smoke absorber inlet and the stove;

3. The distance between the oil smoke absorber and the chimney (i.e. the length of the chimney).

The air volume is usually calculated per minute. Each model of oil smoke absorber will have a The range hood should not be located too far away from the chimney, otherwise the smoke extraction effect will be greatly reduced, and even oil smoke may be sucked back.

In fact, it is not the case that the greater the suction power of the range hood, the better. Range hoods with high suction power usually have high power, and the radiation, energy consumption, and noise are also relatively larger. Generally, the area of a home kitchen is less than 15 square meters, and a 17 cubic meters per minute range hood can fully meet the daily exhaust requirements. A 17 cubic meters per minute range hood can completely ventilate the entire kitchen in three minutes.

The suction power of the range hood is closely related to various factors such as power, suction power, material, installation position, and exhaust pipe.

The range hood, also known as an oil-absorbing range hood, is a kitchen appliance that purifies the kitchen environment. It is installed above the stove in the kitchen to quickly remove the waste generated by the stove and the harmful oil smoke produced during cooking and expel it outdoors to reduce pollution and purify the air. It also has the safety guarantee of preventing poisoning and explosion. The range hood needs to be cleaned regularly, and simple cleaning cannot remove oil stains. Cleaning the range hood must use professional cleaning agents.

First of all, when we select a range hood, we usually see the following parameters of the product: 1. Dimensions: refers to the size of the oil smoke extractor in terms of length, width, and height.

2. Rated power: the power at which the oil smoke extractor operates normally.

3. Maximum static pressure: the static pressure that the oil smoke extractor can achieve by continuously increasing the resistance of the duct until the flow rate is reduced to 7m3/min. Static pressure refers to the pressure exerted on the surface of an object when it is at rest or moving at a constant speed. The maximum static pressure refers to the static pressure of the oil smoke extractor when its flow rate is 0m3/min, measured in Pa. The maximum static pressure of the oil smoke extractor determines the maximum length of the exhaust pipe that can be connected. The larger the maximum static pressure, the longer the exhaust pipe that can be connected. If the exhaust pipe is connected beyond the maximum static pressure, the oil smoke extraction effect will deteriorate.

4. Air volume: the volume of gas that the oil smoke extractor delivers per minute when the static pressure is 0Pa and there are no other obstructions at the inlet, i.e., the air volume that the oil smoke extractor delivers per minute when it is operating, measured in m3/min.

5. Noise: the maximum noise of the oil smoke extractor when operating at different speeds, measured in dB. Generally speaking, the sound power level of the oil smoke extractor when operating at maximum power should not exceed 70dB, and the sound pressure level should not exceed 56dB.

6. Energy efficiency grade: a method of classifying the energy efficiency of electrical appliances. According to the relevant provisions of national standards, at present, China's energy efficiency labeling system divides energy efficiency into five grades. Grade one indicates that the product's energy saving has reached the international advanced level and has the lowest energy consumption.
